We recognise the importance of employing well qualified experienced staff in order to maintain a high standard of childcare and therefore choose our staff carefully ensuring we have a family of friendly, caring and well qualified team members. Once our staff join our nursery team, we work with them to continuously update and further their training and individual potential.
At our Small Wonders nurseries you can be rest assured that qualified staff under the day-today control of the team leader will take good care of your child according to the statutory ratios under the Children’s Act. These ratios require a maximum of three under 2′s or four 2 year olds or eight 3 and 4 year olds to each member of staff.
The Small Wonders Too Team

When you first walk into Small Wonders Too Day Nursery you will be greeted by a sign that says “Small Wonders Too, where all your fairy wishes come true!” and this really does sum up what our team of highly trained and dedicated staff want to achieve. They have all taken on a fairy persona and can be identified by their uniforms and will do everything to ensure that your little one is happy, settled and loves coming to nursery!!!
All our staff as well as being fully trained in child care are also trained in important areas such as Child Protection, First Aid, Food Hygiene CAF and many others.
As you will see many of our staff have worked for Small Wonders Nurseries for many years.

Catherine opened Small Wonders Too in February 2005 8 years after opening the sister Nursery on Hawkins street, Small Wonders. She has two daughters who have both attended the nurseries. She divides her time between the two nurseries but is always on hand to discuss things with parents at their convenience. She holds a Bsc in Psychology and a NVQ Level 3 in childcare and has worked with children in a variety of settings. Whilst a lot of her time is spent dealing with administrative matters she still spends as much time as possible having fun with the children.
Fairy Vicky; Manager, Vicky Waterhouse |

Vicky has managed the nursery since it opened in 2005, previously working for Small Wonders. She is NNEB qualified and constantly updates her childcare training. She works mainly in the Pre- School room with our 3 and 4 year old children although flits around the nursery as only a fairy can making sure that everything is running tick-a-tee-boo!! Vicky is totally dedicated and takes her fairy duties very responsibly and is our nominated Child Care Protection Officer and our SENCO. Vicky is hoping to start a degree in Early Years shortly.
True Magical Fairy; Deputy Manager, Emma Ainsworth |

Emma has worked with Catherine since 2002. She began as a trainee at Small Wonders and transferred to Too in 2005 and has been with the nursery ever since. She holds a NVQ Level 3 in childcare. Emma is now the deputy manager and works with Vicky in the Pre-School room and really truly is the chirpiest fairy you will ever meet!! She is our very own “Tinkerbelle”. She always has a smile on her face and you will be greeted even at 7’o’clock in the morning with a giggle and a flutter. Emma is also our Charity Coordinator and is always busy organising fund raising events to help out children less fortunate than our own. Emma has 2 scrumptious little girls and as a Mum herself Emma understands the need for peace of mind when we leave our children.
Fairy Cheryl, Cheryl Fazackerly |

She makes sure that all the parents know exactly what their little ones have done during the day and what fun they have had. Danielle is the quietest fairy of all and can flutter around the nursery hardly noticed and is an expert when it comes to teething and weaning!!
Kitchen Fairy Lisa ; Lisa Hart |

Lisa has been with the nurseries since 2005, and is a fully trained chef. We couldn’t manage without this particular fairy, she is vital to nursery life. She busies herself all day in the kitchen making our scrummy meals, but we are all convinced she must use fairy dust as a secret ingredient as we often hear our parents say, “Fairy Lisa, how do you make your Lasagne as my little one won’t eat mine at home?”. Lisa has spent a long time putting together our great menu and only uses fresh produce from local suppliers.
